Creativity: The Wonder of Imagination

Creativity gives you the power to create amazing things. But if someone asked the question of where did it come from, I can’t answer that. I don’t think anyone currently can. I was listening to TED Talk Radio Hour when they discussed this very topic.

The Gifts of Imperfection: Wholehearted Life

A goal of the new year for me has been to work on being happier and healthier. One of the ways I hope to accomplish that goal is by learning how to erase the negative voice in my head. But it is easier said than done when it comes to erasing self doubt.

Then I was gifted with the book, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown. She has been featured on Oprah and TED Talks. She is a writer and research. She breaks down the shame and fear we face in life such as the fear of standing out or being enough. She explains the psychological why along with how we can reverse the process. In the end, readers and practicers of these steps will move toward what she calls “wholehearted living” or simply embracing who you are.

Hack Your Life: Staying calm when you know you will be stressed

As I get ready for midterms at college and upcoming job interviews, I can’t help but feel the stress. We can’t ignore the fact at some point in our lives we have felt the grip of stress pressing upon us. It can tear you up inside if you aren’t prepared to handle that stress. Science has proven stress can cause bodily harm so what should we do about it. So I decided to research a hack. A hack that would address when we know stress will be coming into our lives.

Decoding Your Dog: Understanding Man’s Best Friend

Dog have grown beside man over a millennium. Our evolution and  their evolution are closely tied together. However, we lack some simple understanding. Now, I include myself in the circle of those that sometimes doesn’t understand what my dog is feeling or saying. I even volunteer with a humane society and still have the occasional misunderstanding between me and the dog I am working with. (It is easier to misunderstand a dog that you don’t know very well than one you do.) So how can man understand dog better?

Hack Your Exercise The Easy Way! – Tip for Better Living

Exercising seems like a love or hate things. But does it have to be? Is there a hack for making exercising easier? I have to admit that I have my own love/hate relationship with my local gym. I hate using the weights but love doing the exercise class. Well Emily Balectis has news for you! If you change your vision then you have the possibility of exercising becoming easier for you. How? I will let her explain.

Anthropomorphic: We Feel Like Animals?

Who in the world believes that animals are able to understand us? And not with limited speech commands, but on an emotional or deeper level. We see videos of animals mourning the loss of a beloved trainer or friend. They become attached to certain items that carry value to them. I even have moments where I think my little 10 pound dog is a doggy psychic cause she comes and cuddles me when I am upset at a show or locates her human friends that she misses in a group of people. So can Belle feel human emotions or have human like traits?

Emotional First Aid: Healing the Heart

We prepare ourselves on how to treat our physical injuries. We take first aid for serious injuries and teach our children on where are the bandages for their scrapes and cuts. However, we fail to prepare ourselves for loneliness, rejection, and depression. We fail at creating tools in our lives that would help us during these challenging times. It has become a such apparent issue in our society that it has become a topic for research for Guy Winch. He addresses his research during his local TED Talk called Why we all need to practice emotional first aid.

TED Talks: The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking

Everyone has a story to tell or something to teach the world about, but to do that means having to address the public. However, public speaking is scary. If we could, many of us would try to avoid it at all cost. TED Talks have created an art form out of public speaking despite the challenges many have faced. The videos of the speeches are watched over and over again. Speeches that have inspired and motivated others to change the world or advance more into the field. So what is the secret of the success of TED? I would suggest reading TED Talks: The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking by Chris Anderson to discover that answer.

Jumpstarting Creativity: What, Why, and How

If I say the word creativity what do you think it means? How does it apply to your life? Do you think that you have creativity? The dictionary says that creativity says “the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work”. I have worked in teaching, marketing, and other such profession that could be considered creative. I love books, drawing, and writing which are creative hobbies. However, I can not tap into my creative talents 24/7. I am only human. With my activities and some of my past jobs involving the need for creativity, I recognized the need for the immediate generation of creativity when you need it. So I had thought to myself, there had to be some way to trigger this power. I think I may have found the answer during my commute while I listened to the TED Radio Hour. They had an episode called Jumpstarting Creativity where people like Tim Harford spoke on how to rekindle and harness it.

Climate Crisis: Is Doomsday Upon Us?

Every day we are seeing more and more evidence of climate change happening before our eyes. We see videos of the floating garbage islands in the ocean that is as large as a small city. The United Nations have written several reports stating that if major changes do not occur then these changes are irreversible. Based on that we see and hear, one would think we may never escape our own creation of dooms. So, TED Talk decided to invite speakers to explore how we can save our planet and if we can do it in time in Climate Crisis.

Remember the teenager that started the world-wide protest for climate change? Greta Thunberg is the first speaker to talk about climate change.
