The Gifts of Imperfection: Wholehearted Life

A goal of the new year for me has been to work on being happier and healthier. One of the ways I hope to accomplish that goal is by learning how to erase the negative voice in my head. But it is easier said than done when it comes to erasing self doubt.

Then I was gifted with the book, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown. She has been featured on Oprah and TED Talks. She is a writer and research. She breaks down the shame and fear we face in life such as the fear of standing out or being enough. She explains the psychological why along with how we can reverse the process. In the end, readers and practicers of these steps will move toward what she calls “wholehearted living” or simply embracing who you are.

It is the start of winter today according to the calendar, but it might as well have started back in November. So it is time to create my new seasonal bucket list for winter this year.

World Literature: Discovering The World of Books

Literature is  the stories created or told by authors. The authors bring the readers into their world and ask us questions about our existence that we would otherwise would not ask. They create beloved characters that became icons. So it comes as no surprise to me that for my philosophy credit at The University of Texas at Dallas, I was able to take Introduction to World Literature.

Squirrel-ing Around: Dog – 1 v. Squirrel – 0

Dog and squirrels are nefarious foes that drive each other crazy. Dogs chase them up trees and bark at them until they disappear. Squirrels chuck nuts at them and click their teeth in irritation at them. You can find this portal of their relationship even in the movie. Remember Doug from Up and his line, “Squirrel!” It is a love- hate that is old as time. However, Belle brought this to the next level.

Go For The Greens: Building The Women of Tomorrow

The program is one of a kind. From the friendships you create to the empowering speakers that you hear. As someone who attended for two years, I can say that the results have been extraordinary. I have been able to achieve things such as securing an internship and graduating top of my class. There’s a new confidence and hope for the future that has been instilled me that I owe a lot of credit to the program for. It’s always an incredible experience coming back

My Personal Horror Story: Piercing Gone Bad

Halloween is just around the corner. Horror stories and movies are gobbled with fervor. But … horror lives outside the fantasy realm. Horror lacking the supernatural or the psychopaths. We can find our own horror stories within our own life stories. Here is mine. (if under the age of 18, you actually can read this horror story)

Confessions of a Popaholic: Dr. Pimple Popper

So I have to make a confession …
I am a self diagnosed Popaholic.

A popaholic is someone who gets pleasure from the removal of acne, cyst, and other items from under the skin. Sounds gross if you are not one but if you are I have to let you know that you are not alone.
