A goal of the new year is to be healthier. One way that I hope to achieve it is by making healthier choices when it comes to my sweet treats. One way of doing that is to include some whole grains in your recipes vs. only using all-purpose flour. I turned to the flour company that I trust for my baking needs, King Arthur’s Flour Company. I love the gingerbread cookie recipe I found on their site. The company has an entire cookbook dedicated to the use of whole grain in recipes. It is called King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking. I have a sweet tooth so I decided to focus on sweet treats that I can make and hopefully change out for my regular baking treats.

Pecan Lodge: The Best BBQ Ever
I am a BBQ snob. It may have to do with growing up in Texas, but I think it more has to do with being a foodie. It is hard to impress with me with subpar BBQ so when I say that this is the best BBQ ever, you can trust my words. Now if you have never heard of Pecan Lodge then I feel sorry for you. It has been in D magazines top 50 restaurants for many years, featured on Food Network, Dallas local legend, and much more.
Perc Coffeehouse
I am always a fan of cute coffeehouses. I especially love local business that carry my addiction. (Not that Starbucks wouldn’t do in a pinch) I had seen people raving about this coffeehouse in Old Town Lewisville, Texas. It is right off of Main Street. It is packed with vintage signs and comfy chairs. The back patio is beyond cute. If you need a new paradise, then I suggest trying this place! It is called Perc Coffeehouse. (And I haven’t even talked about the drinks yet!)
Clue on The Big Screen: “Knives Out”
I recently went to the movies with family looking to spend a relaxing afternoon inside instead of in the cold outdoors. We select “Knives Out” with Daniel Craig to watch as we are all big Daniel Craig fans. (He will always be my favorite Bond.) And we were not disappointed! If you aren’t familiar with the synopsis then quickly click here to watch the trailer. Watched it? Good now we can discuss why you need to see it while the movie is in theaters.

World Literature: Discovering The World of Books
Literature is the stories created or told by authors. The authors bring the readers into their world and ask us questions about our existence that we would otherwise would not ask. They create beloved characters that became icons. So it comes as no surprise to me that for my philosophy credit at The University of Texas at Dallas, I was able to take Introduction to World Literature.
Rosie’s Fall Bucket List in 2019 So Far….
Fall is well under well here in Texas. It is cold and wet. Perfect weather for checking in on my bucket list for this season and crossing a few things off.
My Personal Horror Story: Piercing Gone Bad
Halloween is just around the corner. Horror stories and movies are gobbled with fervor. But … horror lives outside the fantasy realm. Horror lacking the supernatural or the psychopaths. We can find our own horror stories within our own life stories. Here is mine. (if under the age of 18, you actually can read this horror story)
Confessions of a Popaholic: Dr. Pimple Popper
So I have to make a confession …
I am a self diagnosed Popaholic.
A popaholic is someone who gets pleasure from the removal of acne, cyst, and other items from under the skin. Sounds gross if you are not one but if you are I have to let you know that you are not alone.
NaNoWriMo: Writing Your Story!
Most high schoolers either dread English class or love it. I was part of the dreaded group and I know I was not alone. The funny thing was I loved to read books and write creative stories. I just needed … the right push. Thanks To Mr. K from my senior year at high school I got to participate in an amazing program that helps young writers. It is called NaNoWriMo.
