I have been trying new recipes at home on my family recently, and my family has tried each of them. They have tried the successes and the failures. I recently have been trying to perfect an apple cider cake recipe. It hasn’t worked yet, but I am almost there. I think. However, when I was testing out my apple cider cake recipe I came up with a apple compote recipe to fill the cake with that my family loves. So, the story is that some success are unexpected. I didn’t plan on making an apple compote filler for my cakes, but I did create a pretty successful recipe if I say so myself.
Fall has officially come and all my favorite flavors are out! One of my favorite seasonal flavors is Apple Cider. So, I searched for a way to celebrate the flavors of apple cider in a sweet treat to mark fall’s arrival. That is how I came up with the wonderful idea of Cider Cookies.

It is kind of like a muffin. It is kind of like a cinnamon cake doughnut. It is the sweet treat creation that I did not know that my breakfast needed.
I decided to do my own take on the Praline Mini Cheesecakes. I had varying results and have a semi-perfected recipe. I used my favorite graham cracker crust recipe and made the steps less consuming so the home cook can easily repeat them. You will find it to be sweet and creamy with the subtle bite of hazelnut adding the nutty flavor notes.
Sometimes, I love a different take on the afternoon snack. Sometimes, I want sweet. Sometimes, I want salty. You never know what you could be craving, but what if there was one little Chinese inspired cookie that could be the salty and sweet bite you need in the afternoon? I came across this interesting recipe on Bake for Happy Kids called Melt-in-your-mouth Pork Floss Chinese Cookies. It is a one of a kind recipe that I just had to try.
Chef’s Table is one of my favorite documentary series. It gets to the core of the chefs behind some of the top restaurants around the world. The documentary series created a new spin off focusing on BBQ around the world. BBQ looks different in different parts of the world, but there is a common feature of fire. The people who master this type of cooking are often given the title of Pit-Master instead of Chef as they have a skill set that a Chef can’t match. Pit-Masters have an understanding of fire and food.
How many of you have watched the So Yummy food videos? They are cute little video that show the recipes and methods as being easy to make or do. I really liked the one that showed all these fancy ways to fold dumplings. They made dumplings shaped like flowers and shells. Just look at them here! These methods of folding were far fancier than the traditional crimping that I used when making homemade dumplings. So one weekend when I had a bit of time and a craving for dumplings, I decided to try to fold the dough in these new ways. Then, how did it go?
I love my bagel in the morning with cream cheese, but even I need to change up my morning routine sometimes. I did this by trying a new bread recipe for my morning treat that I discovered while flipping through old magazines that I had saved. The photos looked scrumptious and made me hungry for a slice. I was recently looking for a sweet treat that was familiar yet unusual enough to impress family and friends. I also wanted to do something a little unusual than the standard American dessert. I was flipping through all of my saved recipes to come across a little gem called Purin. Purin is a Japanese custard pudding with caramel.
