How many of you have watched the So Yummy food videos? They are cute little video that show the recipes and methods as being easy to make or do. I really liked the one that showed all these fancy ways to fold dumplings. They made dumplings shaped like flowers and shells. Just look at them here! These methods of folding were far fancier than the traditional crimping that I used when making homemade dumplings. So one weekend when I had a bit of time and a craving for dumplings, I decided to try to fold the dough in these new ways. Then, how did it go?
If you are a fan of the Great British Baking Show like I am, then you have you and awed at all the technical recipes that are dropped onto the bakers. Recipes that you may have never seen or tried. One of these recipes, I decided to recreate as I wait for the latest release date from the newest season of Great British Baking Show. I decided to make Langues de Chat or Cat’s Tongues using the recipe from BBC that was on the show!
So in theme with the heat wave that has recently hit, I decided to check out The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen in order to learn about the vibrant food that matched the summer sun. I personally picked this book as my first step toward learning about Mediterranean cuisine, because America’s Test Kitchen cookbooks provide vibrant photos of the food along with detailed instructions even a novice cook could follow. I also love the variety of recipes included within pages for it truly teaches you about the cuisine from A to Z without leaving anything out. With that, I was able to start my journey with Mediterranean cuisine. My next step after selecting The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen was to select my recipes I was going to test.
Sometimes we all need a few tips and tricks to help us in the kitchen. Even having some master recipes under our belt would be helpful. I am an amateur cook and no where near perfecting it. I am still taking baby steps but I am still trying. Until then I have to rely on cookbooks for assistance. Hence my latest find and love in the cookbook section of my library, I highly recommend my latest find for the amateur cooks out there like me called America’s Test Kitchen Cooking School Cookbook.
Before COVID, the world ran at the speed of a million miles per hour. Sometimes, it was hard to imagine spending time taking hours to make and prep a meal. I know had more than a few days like that. However, our relationship with meals shouldn’t be a burden. We should be able to enjoy them without spending hours in the kitchen. We could all use those 5 minutes spent less cooking on something we would rather be doing. Things such as spending time with our loved ones. I think that is why I really like Nadiya’s Time to Eat on Netflix.
I have tried several of her recipes from online, but this was the first time I have tried recipes she has published in her cookbook. I recently got ahold of a copy of Giada’s Feel Good Food, and was very excited to try the recipes. Was her cookbook good? Why not take a look?
With travel bans in place, world travelers like myself have gotten a little stir crazy. I have never been to Jerusalem and thought a stop over in my imagination might be exciting and brighten my gloomy days indoors. When I make Buttercream Frosting for my cakes, I want it to be light and fluffy. It can’t be too sweet or would make the cake overly sweet. There is perfect happy medium that needs to be obtained when it comes to the perfect buttercream. I think I have found a fool proof recipe that anyone can use.
