Perfect Finish was a cookbook gifted to me by my family, and had many wonderful recipes that satisfied our sweet tooth. I ended up reviewing on my blog, but I haven’t used it much recently as I have been trying to work my way through other cookbooks I have borrowed. I recently revisited this cookbook on my shelf unexpectedly. I was trying to find a recipe that used cranberries, which I consider a flavor of the holidays.

The Pack: Adventure with Man’s Best Friend
The Pack was recently released with it’s first season onto Amazon Prime, and I watched the entire season. If you are unfamiliar with The Pack, it is a travel competition show, but instead of teams of people, it is a team of dogs and humans.
Delicious Gifts: Red Pepper Chutney
I am the type of gift giver that tries to give personal gifts to friends and loved ones. This is usually in the form of tasty treats like cookies or jam (see my family recipe here). However, some people do not like sweets. I also get tired of making the same recipes over and over again.
I recently checked out Delicious Gifts by Jess McCloskey. It is a book filled with recipes for edible gifts that any amateur chef can complete.
Revisiting Italian Baker
Last year, I found this wonderful cookbook about Italian baking in my local library. It was called Italian Baker. I took a few of the recipes in this cook book and tried them out to see how well the recipes were written and if they were as tasty as I thought they could be. I was very happy and so was my belly. I was so happy to not only keep a copy of the recipes that I tried, but copied a few more recipes to try in the near future. With some free time recently, I revisited these recipes that I hadn’t tried yet and picked one to try out.
Elements of Fiction: Little Book of Tips and Advice
I have thought about taking up a fiction writing project inspired by one of the members completing these amazing flash fiction pieces for competition. I typically focus on improving my writing for this blog, but thought a new challenge might be fun. With that in mind, I needed to research the fiction writing process, but since my time has been limited due to crazy schedules the advice needed to be concise and short. Hence, I recently checked out Elements of Fiction by Walter Mosley from my local library
Now Write!: Collection of Tips and Tricks from Fiction Writers
It seems like every author and their editor has comments and tips about the writing process. If only someone could organize all the information by splitting the information by writing style and writing techniques. Oh wait… SOMEONE DID!
Nail Polish Investment: O.P.I
I hate nail polish that is so weak that it chips in a day and doesn’t look good once dried. I would rather spend my money on another book than crappy nail polish. So with little patience, there is only one or two brands of polish that I will invest in. One of those brands is O.P.I. Nail Polishes. It is a well known brand that comes in a variety of formulas and colors. I personally love the regular polish formula and the clarity of colors that it comes in. It takes some prep and time to get the desired shiny coat, but it is well worth it. This is my process for the best results with their colored polish.
Writing a Novel: The Faber Academy Way
If you look at books on advice for writing, everyone has their set of suggestions. A lot of the books share the same advice with nothing new or innovative to offer to the newbie writer. That is not how Richard Skinner approached teaching his audience about novel writing in Writing a Novel.
Nadiya’s Time to Eat: Cooking for The Busy
Before COVID, the world ran at the speed of a million miles per hour. Sometimes, it was hard to imagine spending time taking hours to make and prep a meal. I know had more than a few days like that. However, our relationship with meals shouldn’t be a burden. We should be able to enjoy them without spending hours in the kitchen. We could all use those 5 minutes spent less cooking on something we would rather be doing. Things such as spending time with our loved ones. I think that is why I really like Nadiya’s Time to Eat on Netflix.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: The 50’s Have Never Been Funnier
The world always loves a good comedy, and combined with the elegance of a girl dressed for the 50’s then you more than likely will have a winner. Amazon proved this true with their hit, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
