I hate nail polish that is so weak that it chips in a day and doesn’t look good once dried. I would rather spend my money on another book than crappy nail polish. So with little patience, there is only one or two brands of polish that I will invest in. One of those brands is O.P.I. Nail Polishes. It is a well known brand that comes in a variety of formulas and colors. I personally love the regular polish formula and the clarity of colors that it comes in. It takes some prep and time to get the desired shiny coat, but it is well worth it. This is my process for the best results with their colored polish.
First step with O.P.I Polish is applying a base coat so the color sticks better to the nail and let it dry. It usually takes 5 minutes at most to dry.
Second step is to apply your color coat on top of your base coat. It will not be solid, but leave it to dry. Thin layers of polish dry faster. Allow this polish coat to dry for about 15 mins to be sure it is fully set. I recommend watching TV between coats.
Third step is to apply a second color coat to the nails. It will give you the darker look and the nail underneath won’t be visible. Allow this polish coat to dry for about 20 minutes. You need it to be super dry and smooth so extra time spent waiting for it to dry is reccomended.
The last step is to apply a top coat. Do this carefully and without overlapping previous strokes so you don’t smudge all your hard work. Then let the coat dry for about 30 minutes. The longer, the better. It will protect your work for longer than a day.
However, I don’t wear color polish consistently due to my soft nails that break and bend easily. When they reach a point of being too soft and breaking consistently, I use the O.P.I. Nail Strengthener to form barriers on them and promote harder nails. It dries super quick and my nails don’t bend nor break as easily. A week of applying a new coat every two to three days leaves my nails in better shape. The nail polish coat does peel in slivers though when it is time to add another coat is the only down fall.
So if you need a polish to dress up your look or need help with your soft nails, I suggest getting your own bottle of O.P.I. polish cause you are not getting mine.
OPI is my favorite brand of nail polish!
