Sometimes all we need is a bit of encouragement to pick up the pen and write our tales. I recently joined a local writing group to get support and discover new resources to help with my writing. The group introduce me to Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. They were in love with it. We did several writing prompts out of it, and it really got the creative juices going. I was encouraged by our sessions with this book to check out the book on my own time and read it from front to back.
Writing Down the Bones focuses on helping writers start the creative writing process. It doesn’t tell you how to write, but encourages you to simply write. That doesn’t mean that there are no writing tips. There is actually quite a few tips that are truly helpful without being restrictive to the process. It gives you permission to have imperfect writing. It gives you simple exercises to help jog your imagination. It is the kind of writing guide I like because it is not trying to be a ruler maker. The book is just acting as a guide in your creative journey. If you ever needed the encouragement to write or want to reference a new writing guide, Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg is perfect for you.
So go ahead and free your inner writer!
