One of the first Broadway plays that I watched in New York was the ever popular and famous Wicked about 5 years ago. If you are not familiar with the story, then you are missing out. Wicked is a unique take on the story from The Wizard of Oz. The story of what happened before Dorthy dropped in.
You get to meet whimsical characters like Elphie and Glenda like never before. Find the lines between right and wrong blurring with fantastic musical numbers that you can’t stop singing. The world of Oz comes alive under the stage lights and you never want to leave even when the story is finished.
It was a long time ago that I watched the play, but I remember being pulled into the story so deeply that I was on the edge of my seat. I can still picture the flight scene and some of the details of the set pieces. I can almost describe the singers’ voices that permeated through the air. It represents why Broadway is unlike any other play form out there and is the pinnacle achievement for musicals.
If you ever get a chance to see any Broadway play in New York then I highly recommend the Broadway hit, Wicked. You won’t be disappointed.
