This father’s day I have decide to publicly write a letter to my dad, the man who raised me and helped me grow into the woman that I am. I would also like to thank Juan Pablo Arenas for the stock image I am using in this post!
To my dearest father,
Thank you for loving me over the years and raising me to be who I am. You raised me to be strong and proud! You taught me how to throw a ball even though I have zero athletic ability. You made sure I knew what was right from wrong. You taught me what love should look like and to never accept anything less from anyone. You drove me to every practice and game I signed up for even though you were busy with work. You taught me to drive even though I was terrified. (Sorry about giving you grey hair from it!) I have realized I have a lot to be thankful to you for over the years!
I have your eyes and mom claims your smile. You gave me your sense of humor. You taught me to enjoy the quiet moments curled with a family movie just as much as a fun filled day of adventures. I enjoy sharing my work with you even if you don’t necessarily understand it. I am still amazed that you learned how to braid my hair and paint my nails when I was younger so I could go to daycare as dressed as I wish to, and never used your masculinity as an excuse. I don’t know how many lucky girls can say that their fathers did that, but I can proudly say mine did.
You have made me laugh on my worst days. Supported me in every way you physically could. You helped me when I struggled. I have no idea what I would be without you but I know I would be lesser if you weren’t around. I love you, Dad. Happy Father’s Day!
Sincerely,
Rosie Greens
