This mother’s day I have decide to publicly write a letter to my mom, the woman who raised me and helped me grow into the woman that I am.
To My Dearest Mother,
Thank you for the countless pain and hours spent raising me. I know I came later in life than you planned, but you never let it hold you back. You changed career paths in order to raise me the way you wished you were raised. You loved me even when I had trouble loving myself.
You healed and kissed all my scraps. You held my hand when I need help standing tall. You believed in all my dreams. You hid the struggles that you faced behind the biggest smile so that I could grow up untouched by the realities of the world. You dropped everything when I broke down to help guide me forward. You presented me the world in your palms so I can lead a different life than you did. You use the stories of your past to help teach me life lessons and avoid the same pitfalls.
Our disagreements and my missed steps never broke your stride when it came to loving me. I know I tried your patience with my head strong ways. All I can say is that I am sorry for driving you crazy. As I start making my mark on the world, I can only look back at you and see you beside me. Your face is looking back at me in the mirror. Your slanted smile, your petite size all stare back at me. You are a piece of me as much as I am a piece of you.
Thank you for making me the woman I am. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your support. Thank you for being the mom that I needed. Thank you for being you. I can’t imagine my life without you in it. It would be so different without you and not in the good way. I love you, Mom. I hope the world can see you in me and see the woman that you are. If I ever become a mother in the future, I hope I can hold a candle to your image. Happy Mother’s Day!
Love,
Rosie Greens
